Our dear mom, Myrna Lisette Castro Duhe’ passed away peacefully at her home in the early morning hours of September 19, 2025 at the age of 80. She faced her illness with remarkable strength and courage, and departed with grace and dignity. Now she is resting serenely in Heaven, embraced by God in eternal comfort.
She was the devoted wife and best friend of the late Francis “Butch” Duhe Jr, her loving husband of 57 years. She was also the caring dedicated mother of Brian (Dolores) Duhe, Bonnie Duhe Cochran and Bridget Duhe (late Kevin) Miller. She was the beloved grandmother “Meemaw” to Cameron (Madison) Cochran, Kaleb (Michaela) and Brendan Miller, Ashley and Madison Duhe and the late Sean Wilt as well four great grandchildren Ruby Miller, Nevaeh, Zackery and Leggio III. In addition, she is also survived by her puppy Minky, grand dogs Sadie, Henry, and late Brees and grand cats Lil Wat, Pebbles and late Boots.
She was the daughter of the late Dr. Federico Guillermo and Fidelina Mayorga Castro. Sister of Aida (late Jose) Fernandez, Sandra Daigrepont (late Larry), Guillermo (Dailila) Castro and the late Aracely Marzocco (late Rino), Doris De Vieva (late Elles) and the late Milady Castro. She was the sister in law of Barbara (John) James, Don (Jane) Duhe, Terry Duhe, Carol Olsen and the late Susie Athey, Pamela Duhe and Glendora Ferman. She was also survived by several nieces and nephews.
Myrna was born in San Pedro Sula, Honduras, and at a young age she moved to Louisiana and it became her residence. It was at the Wiedemann’s house, that she met her eternal love, Butch. Together they built a full and beautiful life, raising three children, and creating a family nurtured in love, strength, friendship and enduring values. Our mom had a very fun loving vibrant spirit, she filled our lives with warmth, humor and devotion. She offered gentle words of encouragement when needed and made every moment brighter. Myrna loved the simple joys of life … she enjoyed taking rides in her little Mustang convertible or sitting by the waters of a beach or Lake Pontchartrain. Our mom always had a comforting home where you could sit down, relax, share a meal and talk about anything on your mind. She was an amazing cook especially her meatballs and spaghetti, shrimp and crab stew, stewed carrots or peas, sticky chicken and arroz con pollo, among other dishes. She will be remembered not only for their flavor, but for the memories that came with them. She took great pleasure in decorating for the holidays, especially Christmas, family gatherings, telling stories at the dinner table with beer, champagne, wine or cocktails in hand. She thoroughly reveled in singing, dancing, going out to eat, listening to live music, festivals and school fairs. There wasn’t party she did not want to miss. As the respected matriarch of our family, she lived for the love of her family and made a house, our warm safe home. Now she has a new home with Butch, together again. Our loss is his gain, and that brings us peace. Her presence was a blessing that will never be forgotten. She will be truly missed and her memory will remain in our hearts forever.
Until we meet again ... “Adiós, Ciao! Be careful!”
Cheers to Myrna! It’s 5 o’clock somewhere! Aka Meemaw, Queen Mum, Chickadilla, Mamacita.
