She was born on October 1, 1951 in New Orleans to the late William Crowe Hale and Dolores Corcoran Hale. She was preceded in death by her husband Douglas Alan McKay and her siblings, Dolores Hale Brunet, Agnes Theresa Hale, and James Carrol Hale. She is survived by her sons, Christopher James “Jimmy” Gaudry, Jr. (Malinda), Donald Andrew “Andy” McKay (Renee), and daughter, Danielle Amanda “Mandy” McKay, grandchildren: Magnolia and Bridger Gaudry, Alexander and Maxwell Mounis, Ryleigh, Donovan, and Dexter McKay. She also leaves behind her uncle, James Carrol Corcoran, sisters, Marion Hale Loup (Bob), Mary Jane Robinson (Don), Annette Hale Hudson (the Late Jerry), and brothers Albert Blake Hale (Carolyn), Edward Michael Hale (Erin), and William Crowe Hale (Dianne). Pat was part of a large family and is survived by many nieces and nephews, many of whom she remained very close to.
She was an avid reader and walker and will always be remembered for her love of all things connected to frogs. She was known for her humor and could always be counted on to lighten the mood. Her children lovingly dubbed her the Just Add Water cook, but her “secret gumbo recipe” was a hit with every crowd. When asked what her secret was, she would only reply “it’s all about da butta, dawlin”! She enjoyed hosting backyard parties and swim days with her grands, and family gatherings were her favorite. She was a longtime member of the New Orleans Hash House Harriers and dedicated plenty of time to assisting with runs, events, and parties. She cherished the friendships she made through the NOH3 and considered them part of the family. She worked as the office manager for many years at Sunrise Pediatrics and then moved into the health insurance industry working for Pan American, Ochsner, and Humana. In later years, you would find Pat taking her mall walks at Lakeside Mall in the morning as she chased her 10,000-step daily goal and often you would find her volunteering with NORSI for road races on the weekend (she had amassed quite the t-shirt collection to prove it!). NORSI appreciated Pat’s dedication as a volunteer and will be hard-pressed to fill her shoes. Pat enjoyed reconnecting with her Mercy girls and spending Wednesdays with her lunch and cocktail group.
A Memorial Mass for Patricia will be held on Saturday, December 10, 2022 at 1:00 pm at the Most Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church in Baton Rouge, LA.
