Peter Herbert Schneckenburger Jr.

Peter H. “Skeets” Schneckenburger, Jr. passed away on Sunday, February 12, 2012. He was born in Harahan, LA on April 16, 1918 to Mrytle Mayo and P.H. Schneckenburger, Sr. Skeets lived his entire life in Harahan with his wife, the late Rosemary Galpin. Father of Peter Schneckenburger, III (Jolene), Veronica Quirk and Jacqueline Helmstetter (Gus). He was affectionately known as “Peep” to his grandchildren: Mark Quirk, Peter Schneckenburger, IV, Lana Singley, Trey Blackall, Rhonda Lopez, Christine Helton, and the late Matthew Quirk; great-grandchildren:Matthew, Peter Brent, Blake, Derek, Lacy, Britt, Graham, Lauren, Ryan, Ali, Anna and Emma; great-great grandchildren: Ziggy and Lyla. He was the brother of Lois Schneckenburger and the late Huey, Marion and Shirley Schneckenburger. Uncle of Sue Spinosa and Robert Schneckenburger. Skeets was a lovable character who was an avid horse racing enthusiast and a backyard gardener who grew the best tomatoes in town. He will be missed by all, especially his lifelong buddy, Dimples Carrington and his loyal and loving caregiver, Leslie.

Relatives and friends of the family are invited to attend a Memorial Service at Garden of Memories Funeral Home, 4900 Airline Drive in Metairie, LA on Friday, February 17, 2012 at 1:00 pm. Visitation will begin at 11:00 am. Inurnment will be in Garden of Memories Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, the family request contributions made in memory of Skeet’s late wife, Rosemary Schneckenburger, to the Alzheimer’s Association, 2605 River Rd., New Orleans, LA 70121.
