In the great ocean of life, Richard "Fish" Kevin Fischbein was a catch. With his reel-y amazing smile and love for life, Fish made a splash wherever he went. He swam away from us on Wednesday, February 14, 2024, at the age of 62, in Metairie, LA leaving behind a school of heartbroken family and friends.
Born on August 23, 1961, in New Orleans, LA, Fish schooled us all on how to live life with joy and a buoyant spirit. For over 40 years, Fish was the anchor at the front end of Zuppardo's where he stocked up on friendships and served the community with dedication that was anything but fishy.
A true high school "sole"-vivor from East Jefferson High School, Fish navigated the currents of life with grace. His hobbies weren't just a drop in the ocean; he loved fishing, shooting pool, and was always ready to dive into celebrations with his crew.
He leaves behind his partner in tide, Peggy Todd, and his first mates (her sons), Jonathan and Jay. Sailing on in his wake are siblings Kimberly, David and Cynthia along with his fleet of half-siblings, Julie, Sigmund and Laura, nieces, nephews and a treasure trove of great-nieces and great-nephews. Fish was predeceased by the captains of his ship, his parents and older buoys and gills.
A gathering to share Fish tales and honor his legacy will be netted together at Celebration Church, 3550 Williams Blvd. in Kenner, LA 70065 on Saturday, March 9, 2024. Visitation will begin at 10:00 AM followed by a Memorial Service at 11:00 AM. A reception will be held from 12:00 PM - 2:00 PM in the church's fellowship hall.
Fish has docked his last boat and set sail for the great blue yonder, leaving us all with memories that are simply off the hook. Reel in peace, dear Fish. Your legend will never flounder.
