Rita Rogers Waggoner

Rita Rogers Waggoner, age 82, entered into rest on Thursday, March 14, 2013. She was a native of New Orleans, LA and a resident of Metairie, LA. Sister of the late James Rogers Russo. Daughter of the late Leslie Rogers and Sundean Cocchaira Cavet. Aunt of Adam K. Russo (Andrea) and Ryan L. Russo. Grand aunt of Sofia Russo. Cousin of Ray Schoenstein (Carole), Carol Olivier (Sidney) and Linda Wood (Danny). Also survived by many relatives and friends. Mrs. Waggoner retired from the U.S. Department of Agriculture after 35 years of employment. She was a parishioner and volunteer at St. Ann Catholic Church, was a member of the Golden Age Club and several other senior citizens clubs. Mrs. Waggoner loved life, going out with friends and family, Mardi Gras parades, the French Quarter and music. She will be dearly missed. Mrs. Waggoner’s family would like to thank the staff at Metairie Healthcare Center and Canon Hospice for their wonderful care and compassion. Relatives and friends are invited to attend the visitation at St. Ann Church, 3601 Transcontinental Drive in Metairie, LA on Monday, March 18, 2013 beginning at 11:00 AM with a Funeral Mass to follow at 12:00 noon. Interment will be in Cypress Grove Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be sent in Mrs. Waggoner’s memory to the Lighthouse for the Blind.
