

It is with a heavy heart that the family of Shawn Gerald Manguno announces his passing on Sunday September 7, 2025 at the young age of 64. Shawn passed away in his sleep at home. With great happiness and joy, he found himself in the loving arms of Our Jesus. Shawn was born in CA, raised in the Irish Channel, lived in Kenner, then called Hammond home for over 40 years.
Shawn marched to the beat of his own drum! He was funny, independent and did not conform to others’ expectations. Drumming was his passion. He played drums in the marching band at Rummel High School. Shawn graduated from Southeastern Louisiana University where he played drums in the marching, concert, and jazz bands. He was also privileged to play at President George Bush Sr.’s inauguration. Shawn treasured working for SLU’s radio station KSLU for many years. Later in life he thoroughly enjoyed working at Louisiana’s 1st Choice Auto Auction where he drove the coolest cars as well as the clunkers. Shawn loved the Chicago Cubs and was able to see them play at Wrigley Field with his best friend and brother, Glenn. His favorite entertainment was watching a baseball game and drinking a beer with friends. Shawn had adventurous travels to many countries.
Shawn is survived by his son, Miles Lyndon and grandson, Milo Flynn Walters who live in Texas. He was the proud little brother to his “commanding” sister, Colleen Boudreaux (David). Shawn was the beloved son of the late Nathalie Scully Manguno Cave whom he adored, and grandson of the late Melville “MeMe” and Mary “Granny” Scully. He was known as “DaUnc” to Tabatha (David) Benoit, Dawn (Shawn) Bearden, Todd (Vanna) Manguno, Jill Hano, Jacob Boudreaux, Daniel (Victoria) Boudreaux, Jennifer (Dimitri) Georgiades and Amanda (George) Bensabat. Shawn, thank you for being you. You touched many lives and will live on in our hearts.
It is so hard to say goodbye, but we are happy that you are home now with our Heavenly Father. Services in memory of Shawn will be held on Friday, October 3, 2025 at Leitz- Eagan Funeral Home, 4747 Veterans Memorial Blvd. in Metairie. Visitation will be from 9-11am, Memorial service at 11am.
