

Shirley Mae Savoie, age 95, born February 10, 1930 passed away on Wednesday, May 7, 2025. She is survived by 2 children, daughter, Sharon S. Cline and son, Jody M. Savoie (Geralyn); 4 grandchildren, George Cline, Jr. (Dana), Jenny White (Ryan), Megan Descant (Kyle) and Lindsey Savoie; 5 great-grandchildren, Gavin Cline, Kaiden White, Riley White, Cecilia Descant and Lucas Descant; 2 step-sons, Lawrence J. Savoie, Jr. (Karen) and Roy Savoie (Barbara); 6 step grandchildren, Lawrence J. III, Chad, Eric, Roy, Michael and Tony Savoie as well as several other step great-grandchildren. Shirley is also survived by her brother-in-law, Horace Savoie (the late Judica), sister-in-law Emma Cretini (Norman) and godchild Dana L. Lesieur.
Preceded in death by her husband, Lawrence J. Savoie, Sr.; parents, Clarence J. Babin, Sr. and Lucy G. Babin; 2 sisters, Florence Babin and Jo Anna LeSieur (the late Wayne); brother, Clarence J. Babin, Jr. (the late Elizabeth) and her pet buddy Peanut.
Shirley was a parishioner of St. Benedict Catholic Church in Covington, Louisiana. She was employed for 15 years earlier in her life at Stumpf's Drug Store.
During her life, she loved and enjoyed camping and other activities with her family and friends as members of the Jefferson Parish Junior Deputies Association. She also loved gardening and raising her pet lovebirds and cockatiels but most of all, she loved spending time with her grandchildren.
The family would especially like to send their thanks and appreciation to the doctors, nurses and staff of St. Tammany Hospice at St. Tammany Hospital in Covington, Louisiana for their exceptional care and concern given during her final days as well as their kindness, concern and care for her family during this difficult time. The family also wants to thank the staff at Heritage Manor in Mandeville for their care.
A Funeral Mass will be celebrated in the Chapel of Leitz-Eagan Funeral Home, 4747 Veteran Blvd, Metairie, on Saturday, May 10, 2025 at 11:00 AM. Visitation will begin at 9:00 AM. Interment will follow in Westlawn Cemetery in Gretna. Express condolences at www.westsideleitzeagan.com.
