Sidney Louis Patrick, Sr. (88), died on Thursday, February 23, 2023, surrounded by his loving wife of 27 years, Pam J. Patrick (née Schlaudecker) and their children. “Captain Sid”, as he was known, worked hard from the time he was a small boy on his family’s dairy farm, and he first entered the seafood business over 50 years ago with his mother-in-law Deanie Livaccari, founder of Deanie’s Seafood. He was well-known as the proprietor of Captain Sid’s Seafood, which he opened in 1979 on Lake Avenue in Bucktown and operated for 35 years: his boiled crawfish – with the perfect blend of spices - are legendary.
Sid was an original Bucktown resident. In his younger years, he loved the outdoors and was an avid fisherman and enjoyed wrestling alligators. Some of his favorite memories took place on the water, whether fishing, shrimping, or crabbing, or cruising with Pam and their friends. He was truly a friend to all, and he was always ready to play cards, horse around, or just shoot the bull over a few beers. Sid also enjoyed the quieter moments, like doting on the birds and squirrels visiting his feeders or teaching his beloved grand and great-grandchildren how to play Fan Tan and Farkle (and then playing for hours). He was generous and kind, especially to those who needed a helping hand the most.
Sid is survived by his wife Pam, his three children, Cynthia Burnette (Richard), Sid Patrick (Magne), and Deanie Davis, stepdaughter Darlene Miller Ciolino, six grandchildren: Amanda George (Jesse), John Burnette, Zachary Davis, Christine Toujouse, and Bella and Chloe Ciolino, five great-grandchildren, Robin, Jonah, and Lark George and Emma and Abigail Toujouse, his brother Don Patrick, and a host of nieces and nephews.
Sidney was predeceased by his first wife, Catherine Patrick (née Livaccari), his parents, Earl Patrick and Florence Patrick (née Lapuyade), his sister Shirley Letellier and brothers, Earl, Ralph, and Lawrence Patrick.
