Theresa Ann Norris

Theresa Ann Norris of New Orleans, Louisiana was a well-known local artist and founder of Norris Designs Creative Graphics who passed away on Saturday, July 16, 2022 after a courageous and valiant eight-year fight with cancer. She was born in Norfolk, VA on September 9, 1951. She grew up in Milton, Florida, graduated from Milton High School and received a Bachelor of Science in Education from the University of West Florida. Her Master’s studies in Fine Arts were gathered at the University of South Florida, University of the Americas, Mexico, and University of New Orleans. Her mentor and advocate was Auseklis Ozols, co-founder of the New Orleans Academy of Fine Arts. She was admired for her lively, loving spirit, her humor and dedication to her artistic gift. She was beloved by all who knew her. Her artwork around the city of New Orleans will be cherished by all for many years.

She joins her parents, Col. Willard and Ruth Norris, of Milton, FL as well as her niece, Piper Godwin. She is survived by her partner, Bernard Tessitore, her sisters, Barbarah Norris and Paula Mestayer (Richard) as well as her nieces and nephews, Katrina Parker (Brian), Chip Mapoles (Amy), James Norris, and Miranda Baham (Jonathan).

A “Celebration of Life” memorial service will be held in Springfield, Louisiana on Saturday, August 6, 2022 at 32872 Cullom Road, the Home of Springfield Wellness Center. In lieu of flowers, please direct your donations to NAD Research, Inc., a non-profit private foundation dedicated to NAD research as it relates to addiction, neurodegenerative diseases, aging, and mitochondrial dysfunction. Visitation will be from 10:00 am - 11:00 am followed by the service at 11:00 am which will include music from “A Creole Mass” by composer Wardelle Quezergue and produced by Warren P. Valentino. Visitation will continue following the service. Lunch will be provided by Chef Elizabeth Terrebonne. An open gallery of Theresa’s paintings will be on display following the service.
