Bernice, Marcella and I remember well when we met you and Tom in August, 1965. Wow!  45 years ago.  As we spoke on Wednesday the long term relationships that develop between friends are sometimes difficult to explain, apart from God's grace and intervention.  We have always considered you and Tom among our best friends.  And we see you two as among the most sharing couples we know, sharing your lives with so many people.  Tom was always so willing to give of his time, making people feel so wanted and confortble in the process.  Tom has gone on before us, privileged to experience God's dying grace.  We can only imagine what he is beholding in Paradise, in the presence of our Lord Jesus Christ.  Tom's legacy and yours is the showcasing of God's glory. Thank you!  Larry Miller

We trust that Tom did not try out his humor on the angels as they escorted him to heaven, but if he did, I'm sure he and the angels laughed all the way!
What a testimony to our Lord and Saviour!   There is no question that we will see him again one of these days and enjoy his confidence and maturity.

We have so many wonderful memories of you both such as the fellowship parties, drop-in visits, fishing trips to Grand Isle and the most recent your visit to our home in West Monroe with Arthur visiting as well.  We cherish these memories and we are so thankful GOD has you both in our lives!  We love you both and yes, we will meet again to be with Tom and all our love ones with our Savior as our master! Linda, I am so sorry to hear about the passing of your father.   I appreciate that I was able to meet your lovely family on my trip to LA last year with Brandy and Jackie.  Enjoy your memories!

Linda, I am truly sorry for your loss. I did not have the opportunity to know your father very well but I did get to meet him and share dinner with him on one occasion. It was actually my first "crawfish boil." I felt like i knew him from the stories that my mother shared with me.I know my mother always looked forward to spending Thanksgiving with you at your parents home. My mother spoke so highly of your father. My mom would always tell me ..He is just the sweetest little guy...You are in my thoughts. Brandy

There are so many things that I got to experience for the first time with Tom Gilbert. My first SAINTS game (that one made me a Who Dat fan for life), giggin' my first  flounder and dragging a stringer full for miles with "OLE WOMEN FEET" and my first time to have a green tree frog for a bed partner while somebody screams SNAKE. I look forward to HEAVEN and the reunion that waits for those who have put there trust in JESUS. Tom was one of my favorites and my Dad called Tom his BEST FRIEND. I love him and will miss him.

My dearest Bernice and family.  I cannot begin to imagine the pain you fill at the loss of Tom.  You and Tom were such an example for young and old alike.  I cannot imagine going to the Bible Center and not seeing Tom there but I know he has left a lasting legacy through the work of the Church.  Take care of yourself and know that you are loved.  Barb

Linda, Bernice & family...what a lovely view of Tom's life.  Always surrounded by those he loved most.  We remember him fondly for our days in Luling.  Such a Godly man and one who made everyone feel comfortable.  We loved being with your family at any gathering in your home or at Bible Center Church. I hated to hear about the passing of "Mr. Tom". But I love to remember my childhood and all the great times with "Soup" and "Mr. Tom" and the great upbringing at Bible Center Church and the fantastic fishing trips. Dear Bernice and Linda, What a wonderful husband and father Tom was..never idle, always active..with that subtle sense of humor that endeared him to us all. He recognized investment in God's work would last for eternity. And we will never know until we see Jesus how many have come to Christ because of Tom. I ache for you having to go through this temporary separation from Tom's presence. My dear friends,I want you to know I have such fond memories of Mr. Tom.  Mainly being a rock at the church as I was growing up and all those fishing trips; especially the floundering trips where I walked for what seemed like miles behind him pulling the 50 flounders he had gigged.  He was always so kind to me and my dad. As you walk that strange line of sadness that you have lost Tom and gladness that he is in his permanent home in heaven, I hope the Lord will surround you with His peace and comfort.

Dearest Bernice, Linda and family...You have my deepest sympathy in your loss.  God in his infinite wisdom took Tommy home when things here just got to bad. Let your loving memories of Tom help you through these difficult times...

My darling Bernice, Linda and families. It is with heavy heart that I recall the wonderful life of Tommy Gilbert. He was like a second father to us.  I recall fondly, his love of fishing and being amazed that he could talk to the fish, "here fishy, fishy, I have something good for you fishy, fishy" as he reeled in dinner.  Tommy had a wonderful zest for live and his family. Our most heartfelt sympathies to Bernice, who was like my second mother, Linda, whom I love like a sister, and their families on the untimely death of Tommy. Let us Rejoice in his new life in Heaven.
