

He is survived by his loving wife, Debbie Eldora Latta, two children, Adam Patrick Latta (Christina Skinner-Latta) and Sarah Beth Wood, and two granddaughters, Zoey Catherine Latta and Eleanor Grace Latta. He is also survived by his siblings, Wesley Latta (Dee Bonura-Latta) of LaPlace, Michael Latta (Sherri Mangipano-Latta) of Ponchatoula, and DeeAnn Latta-Craft (Barry Craft) of LaPlace.
He was preceded in death by his grandson, Cameron Patrick Latta and his parents, John Fletcher Latta and Lois Woodall Latta, both from Durham, NC, who brought this family to the New Orleans area in 1958.
Tommy Graduated from East Jefferson High School in 1968, where he played football and was in the fraternity Tau Kappa Beta (Theta Omega) or TKB. Later he began a career in law enforcement in the Westwego area until 1978 when he moved to the Crescent City Bridge Police. After getting his fill of working traffic violations, accidents, and breakdowns in rush-hour traffic, Tom served in the Jefferson Parish Sheriff Office Narcotics Division. After moving on from the Sheriff's Office, Tom continued working in private security all over the metro area. He honorably represented such clients as Tony Campo, Joe Giarusso I, and the Hyatt Regency Hotel. Lastly, he finished his employment at Blue Marine Security, making friends all along the mighty Mississippi River.
Tom's passion was music and he was a very skilled guitar player. While he mainly played rhythm guitar he was also a talented singer and formed his first band, “Rebel Heart”. Over the years, he played with many others, such as Mississippi South, New South, and the band Blindside.
Family and friends are invited to celebrate Tommy’s life on Saturday, January 14, 2023 at Leitz-Eagan Funeral Home, 4747 Veterans Memorial Blvd. Metairie, LA. Visitation will be held from 11AM-1PM with a service to begin at 1PM. Interment will follow at Garden of Memories Cemetery.
