Virginia Masilio Carreca

She is preceded in death by her parents, Andrew Masilio and Carmela Giambrone. Beloved wife of the late Jake Anthony Carreca. Loving mother of Patricia Ann Carreca and Deborah Maria Carreca and “Ganna” to her grandcat, Morgan Patricia. Sister of the late Jennie Taromina, Margaret Puloma, Carmelo Masilio, Mary Callia, Joseph Masilio, Lena Bourgeois, and half-brother, Charlie Mondabello. Survived by her godchildren, Joseph Giambrone and Frances Reed, numerous nieces and nephews down through great-great-great-great-nieces and nephews, and five favorite nephews.

Virginia was a devout parishioner of St. Rita of Cascia Catholic Church in Harahan. She was a member of the Silver Trotters and the Harahan Senior Center. She made an impact on all those she met and she will be truly missed.

Special thanks to her great-great-niece, Tara Celestin and the Heart of Hospice nurses for the loving care they gave her during her brief illness.

Relatives and friends are invited attend a funeral service on Friday, July 28, 2023 at Leitz-Eagan Funeral Home, 4747 Veterans Memorial Blvd. Metairie, LA. Visitation will be held from 11AM – 1PM with a Mass to begin at 1PM. Interment will follow at Garden of Memories Cemetery.
