Walker Milam Jr.

Walker H. Milam, Jr. died peacefully at home in Harahan, LA on March 23, 2013. He was 82 years old. Walker is preceded in death by his wife of 51 years, June, and his parents Mary Lou and Walker Milam. Walker is survived by his children Jim, Mindy, Lisa Ary and Matt, their spouses Cathy, Roy and Jan, grandchildren Logan, Eric, Kyle and spouse Lindsay, Emily, Shiloh and Alex, and his sister Mary Lou Stone.

Walker graduated with a degree in Business and served as a Marine. After a brief career as a district manager with Mead Johnson, he joined New York Life Insurance Co. as an agent in 1968. His career with New York Life spanned over 40 years, during which time he was a member of Life Underwriters and the Million Dollar Round Table. In addition to his professional achievements, Walker had a long history of community involvement. His volunteer activities included serving on the Boards of the Kiwanis Club, the Harahan Senior Citizens Center, Soniat Playground and Colonial Country Club. Walker served as President of the Soniat Booster Club. Walker was a member of John Calvin Presbyterian Church, where he served as an Elder.

Visitation will be at Leitz-Eagan Funeral Home, 4747 Veterans Blvd., Metairie, LA on Friday, March 29, 2013 from 10 am until the memorial service at noon. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to your favorite charity. Condolences may be offered at www.leitzeaganfuneralhome.com
