I'm so sorry to hear about your loss. Mr. Warren was such a sweet, generous, understanding man. It's going to be very quiet every morning without him working outside every morning. He was always trying to help in any way he could when times got rough. My family and I all admired him a great deal, and he will be missed. He and his sons will be in our prayers.

I played poker with Mr Warren and he was always a man of great warmth and class.  He was a quintessential Southern Gentleman and a wonderful role model for any generation.  He was much loved and very well respected.  I am happy that I grew to know him.

Jimmy, Janey & family.... I just learned of your dad's passing a few minutes ago, and was sad to hear the news. There are some good memories that I have of your dad during my earlier days when he was a close friend to my mother and doc. Mr. Warren had such a gift of making the people that he was around feel good. I don't know of any other way to say it. 

Mr. Warren gave me my first job for a part of one summer. It made me feel important, and to be honest I may have felt like an assistant contractor while worling for Mr. Warren back then. Yes, Mr. Warren put me in charge of pulling out bent nails,and going to the ice house to make the morning pick-up!. I got to drive the truck and got paid for doing it! One morning I had left the tailgate down in the truck, and gave it to much gas while turning onto the highway. (ok, I was burning rubber) Anyway, about a dozen 2 x 4's went flying all over the highway right in front of  Bob's Barber Shop. Traffic was stopped, horns were blowing, people were yelling,and I was running around like a crazy person trying to pick up all of that lumber. Needless to say the word got back to your dad about what happened about a day or two later. He teased me about that for the rest of the time I worked that summer! Not once did I ever see Mr. Warren loose his temper, or ever have anything negative to say about anything. It wasn't in his DNA. And people saw that in him.

I automatically think of your dad at least once a week. True. That is about how often I notice the picture frame hanging in my study. The frame displays a “Big R” check with both of our dad's signatures on it,and says "First Pay Check" It is dated in 1962, and is for $5.40. I remember like yesterday when your dad handed that very check to me and smiled when he said that it would not be long now before I would be able to retire. (ha, right. Our dads were lucky not to have lost their shirts on that huh?) I kept that check, and later framed it and hung it on the wall of my home, where it has been since 1983. It's kind of ironic, but I will be turning 65 in a couple of months, so maybe your dad's words about retiring with that check could be coming to pass after all. 

 My mother is doing well, and has been living in Harahan with my older sister since the early 1980s which is when she move out of the house on Dodge that your dad had constructed. What a very talented contractor/carpenter he was. As big and as wonderful as the cuting edge construction that went into that house was, my dad could never stop bragging about about a little jig-saw design that that your dad did for the front of the modern formica bar. It involved a tilted bubbly champaign glass and bottle, and some other cool cut designs. My dad thought that Mr. Warren was another Picasso, and would brag about that custom design made by your dad,everytime he had a bar customer.

I did not mean to go on so much, but your dad holds a lot of memories for so many people, and for over so many years. I am sure that he will continue to inspire those that were closest to him, for many years to come. It was a pleasure to have known your dad back in the day, and we will all be lucky to have so many good memories to pull us through.

I have a lot of memories of hunting & fishing with Warren. Also loved watching Warren , Jimmy & Rodney work as a team. 

He was a good friend and a great family man. He will truly be missed.

Even though we are not related, Mike and I knew him as "Uncle" Warren.  We were very sad to learn of his passing and will always remember him as a kind gentleman with a delightful sense of humor and a wonderful smile.  Our thoughts and prayers are with all of you.

We were SHOCKED & didn't expect to see Uncle Warren in the newspaper this morning. I was just asking about him on Friday afternoon [Danielle], how he was doing & what he was up to these days.

Our hearts are sad for you all; but our memories are long of Uncle Warren & those wonderful jokes, stories about hunting in LaRose or fishing in Cocodrie. His smile was like rays of sunshine. Never saw him sad!!

May all of you be blessed, knowing Uncle Warren was one of a kind & great human being. He loved life & his entire family.
