Wayne John Mara

Wayne John Mara, age 70, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, June 7, 2011. Beloved husband of Jo Ann Brunett Mara; son of the late Lester and Helen Mara and brother of Don(Olivia) Mara. Devoted father of Sharon Mara Meyer, Dwayne(Erin) Mara and the late Sherri Mara Cook. Grandfather of Brad(Tiffany), Brian and Brittany Cook; Brooke and Austin Meyer and Avery Mara. Also survived by three great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. Wayne was born in New Orleans on December 5, 1940. He lived in River Ridge for the past 40 years and retired from Louisiana Gas Service after 33 years of employment.

Relatives and friends of the family are invited to attend the Funeral Mass on Thursday, June 9, 2011 at 11:00 am at Garden of Memories Funeral Home, 4900 Airline Drive in Metairie. Visitation will be held on Wednesday evening, June 8, 2011 from 6:00 – 9:00 pm and on Thursday from 9:00 am until service time. Interment will be in Garden of Memories Cemetery.
