William "Bill" Harold Johnston

William (Bill) Harold Johnston, age 78, of Metairie, Louisiana passed away peacefully surrounded by his family on Wednesday, May 18, 2022. William was preceded in his death by his parents, Francis William Johnston and Joan Desforges Wilkinson. He is survived by his loving wife of 51 years, Janis Schmitt Johnston; his children, Denise Johnston Shaffer (Aaron) and Keith William Johnston (Jenny); his grandchildren, Parker John Shaffer, Piper Jeanne Johnston, Tatum Meredith Shaffer, and Aiden Gary Johnston; his brothers, Robert Johnston (Camile), Thomas Johnston (Deborah) and Timothy Johnston; a sister, Cheri Minns and many wonderful nieces and nephews.

Bill attended Chalmette High School before entering the service in the U.S. Air Force where he served for four years. He spent his career in sales for Fleet Tire Service where he worked for over 50 years.

As a long-term Mason, he achieved the Scottish Rite 32nd degree, was past Master of John Wayne Lodge, and was serving as Secretary of Level for Lodge 373. Additionally, he was a member of Farhad Grotto.

He was a generous and supportive husband, father, and grandfather who enjoyed taking cruises with family and friends. He will be dearly missed by all those who knew and loved him.

A private celebration of life will be planned for a future date.
