Alfredo Gonzalez

Alfredo Gonzalez, born May 30th, 1962, died Thursday November 21st, 2024 in Miramar. He was with his wife of 40 years, Martha Gonzalez, at the time of his passing. In addition to his wife, he is survived by his three children, Jayleen (Benjamin Joy), Alfred Peter (Oriana Ramirez-Luckert), and Jacqueline; three grandchildren (whom he referred to as “the prizes”), Julia, Daniel, and Michael; his father, Alfredo Gonzalez, Sr.; brother, Jorge; sister, Sonia Gonzalez-Liddick; brother, Joaquim; in-laws, Pedro and Martha Rodriguez; and a large extended family in the United States, Cuba, Spain, and Uruguay. He was predeceased by his beloved mother, Felicidad Gonzalez.

Alfredo lived a remarkable and accomplished life. He overcame hardship first in Cuba, then in Spain, before making it to the United States through the efforts of his uncle, Jose “Pepe” Gonzalez, who saw the promise in Alfredo and through his example imparted a thirst for knowledge and pursuit of success not only for himself but for the larger family and community. Pepe was the first and most important role model and mentor to Alfredo.

Shortly after arriving in the United States, Alfredo met his wife after his family used what was left of their savings to purchase a local bakery in Miami (“she came with the bakery” he’d say). He later enlisted in the Navy in an effort to fully immerse himself in American culture and proudly served aboard the aircraft carrier USS Forrestal. He valued his military experience and service to his country to the end of his days. For Alfredo, it was all part of living, and contributing to, the American Dream. After the Navy, he put himself through college while working full time and raising his young family.

He was an outstanding entrepreneur in the consulting industry. Having started his career with John Alden Insurance, he left to found Cima Consulting Group. He and partners sold Cima in 2004, and in 2008 he and partners founded another company, OmniPoint, which was later purchased by Aon Hewitt before becoming Alight Solutions. Throughout his professional career, he was noted for visionary leadership and as a problem-solver who designed and deployed complex human resource systems for large, global organizations. In 2021, he joined former partners and colleagues at Invisors as an advisor and mentor, not least because he wanted to work with the two of his children who had followed him into his chosen profession.

He was an exemplary human being, generous with his time, his resources, his love, and always his humor. As a result of Pepe’s influence and impact on his life, it became one of Alfredo’s missions and great accomplishments to pass on the opportunity that had been given to him by directly sponsoring the immigration of dozens of family members from Cuba, Spain, and Uruguay. He had the superpower of making others feel special while never acknowledging his own impressive accomplishments. He saw the best in people and had a habit of inspiring them to be the best. He was loved and meant so much to so many - his immediate family, his extended family, friends, colleagues, neighbors, and countless others. His kindness was shared with his closest relatives and complete strangers, alike. In the final chapter of his life, as he was transitioning toward retirement, he enjoyed traveling but he found the most joy in becoming a grandfather and getting a second chance at being an even better role model to his grandchildren with all of the lessons he had learned over the years. His loss is irreplaceable and we will always mourn his departure, but we will continue to be guided by his wisdom and legacy. He will always be in our thoughts as an exemplary model of tenacity, work, responsibility, humility, solidarity, humanity, empathy, and above all, love. We will love you forever Alfredo.

Alfredo vivió una vida extraordinaria y llena de logros. Superó dificultades en Cuba primero y luego en España, antes de llegar a los Estados Unidos gracias a los esfuerzos de su tío, José “Pepe” González, quien vio en él el potencial humano de un gran hombre. A través de su ejemplo, el tío Pepe le transmitió el anhelo por el aprendizaje y la búsqueda del éxito, no solo para él mismo sino para su familia y la comunidad en general. Poco después de llegar a los Estados Unidos, Alfredo conoció a su esposa Martha después de que la familia usara lo que quedaba de sus ahorros para comprar una panadería local en Miami. “Ella vino con la panadería”, decía Alfredo. Más tarde se alistó en la Marina en un esfuerzo por sumergirse por completo en la cultura estadounidense y sirvió con orgullo a bordo del portaaviones USS Forrestal. Valoró su experiencia militar y el servicio a su país hasta el final de sus días. Para Alfredo, la vida consistía en vivir plenamente y contribuir al sueño americano. Después de la Marina, pagó sus estudios universitarios mientras trabajaba a tiempo completo y criaba a su joven familia.

Como resultado de la influencia y el impacto de Pepe en su vida, una de las misiones y grandes logros de Alfredo era pasar la oportunidad que se le había brindado al patrocinar directamente la inmigración de decenas de familiares de Cuba, España y Uruguay. Tenía el superpoder de hacer que los demás se sintieran especiales sin reconocer nunca sus impresionantes logros personales. Veía lo mejor de las personas y tenía la costumbre de inspirarlas a ser las mejores. Era amado y apreciado por muchas personas: su familia inmediata, su familia extendida, amigos, colegas, vecinos e innumerables personas más. Su amabilidad era compartida con sus parientes más cercanos y completos desconocidos por igual. En el último capítulo de su vida, cuando se encontraba en transición hacia la jubilación, disfrutaba de viajar, pero su mayor alegría fue convertirse en abuelo y tener una segunda oportunidad de ser un mejor modelo a seguir para sus nietos con todas las lecciones que había aprendido a lo largo de los años. Su pérdida es irremplazable, siempre lamentaremos su partida, pero siempre seguiremos viviendo bajo su guía y legado infinito. Él siempre estará en nuestros pensamientos como un modelo ejemplar de tenacidad, trabajo, responsabilidad, humildad, solidaridad, humanidad, empatía y sobre todo de amor.
