Bernice Clarita Barned

July 30, 1937 – May 31, 2025

With heavy hearts and deep love, we announce the passing of our beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, and friend, Bernice “Rita” Barned, who departed this life on May 31, 2025, at the age of 87.

Born on July 30, 1937, Rita brought warmth, laughter, and joy to all who knew her. She was predeceased by her devoted husband, Kenneth Barned, with whom she shared a lifetime of love, laughter, and unforgettable memories. Rita’s spirit never dimmed — she was the life of every gathering, always smiling, telling jokes, or lovingly teasing Ken in the way only she could.

Rita leaves behind a legacy of love through her children: Marguerite, Jennifer, and Andrew; her son-in-law Roy and daughter-in-law Angie; eight cherished grandchildren; two adored great-grandchildren; her dear brother Sonny and beloved sister Leonie; and a host of nieces, nephews, extended family, and friends who all felt her special light.

To know Rita was to feel deeply loved. She had a unique gift of making each person feel like they were her favorite — and if you ask her grandchildren, they will all tell you that they were. Her warmth, humor, and grace will be missed beyond words but remembered in every smile, every shared story, and every joyful moment she inspired.

A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, June 21st, 2025 at 11:00 AM at Upper Room Assembly of God,19701 SW 127th Ave, Miami, FL 33177. All who knew and loved Rita are welcome to attend and honor her incredible life.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that contributions be made to Upper Room Assembly of God, the church that has been Rita’s spiritual home for many years.
