Emily Niblack Romfh passed away peacefully on February 17th at the age of 93 at her home on Brickell Avenue. Emily was born to Reece and Oris Niblack in Jackson County, Georgia. Emily moved to Atlanta when she was 16 where she lived with her three sisters and attended business college. After graduating, she worked in the insurance business in Atlanta. She met Jules M. Romfh of Miami on a blind date after he returned from World War II. They married in Atlanta in 1948 and lived on a cattle ranch in Brevard, NC for 5 years before moving to Miami. They had five children. Emily became a successful Realtor and business woman in Miami, and she and Jules owned their own Brokerage and Property Management Company. Emily and Jules sent all their children to St. Stephens Epsicopal Day School and then to Ransom-Everglades where she was very involved in the development and growth of both schools. Emily was a true athlete - a star basketball point guard in high school -and enjoyed riding horses and playing tennis - but her true love was playing golf which she took up in earnest when she was in her early 70s. She won the Riviera Women's Golf Association Fall Handicap Championship in 2006 and again in 2007. Emily was a fierce competitor and a force to be reckoned with in every setting. She was a dedicated wife, mother, and grandmother, and leaves behind four children -Jules M. Romfh, Jr. (Lisa Rathbun Romfh), Nancy Romfh Schlichting (John Schlichting), Karen Romfh Nunes (Jim Nunes), and Julie Flavia Romfh; 13 grandchildren - Mandy Romfh Jesteadt (Jimmy Jesteadt), Ted Romfh and Coleman Romfh, Caroline and Madison Keith, Emily, James and Ava Nunes, Carly and Lily Arthurs, and Jessy, Emma and Molly Schlichting; and 2 great grandchildren, Jay and Dean Jesteadt. Emily's first daughter Marie Romfh Keith predeceased her on December 14, 2018.

There will be visitation on Friday, February 22nd at the Caballero Funeral Home located at 3344 SW 8the Street from 4 to 7 p.m., which will be in lieu of a Saturday reception. Funeral services will be held on Saturday at St. Stephens Episcopal Church in Coconut Grove at 11:30 a.m. followed by internment at Woodlawn Park. In lieu of flowers the family requests donations be made in Emily's memory to the Friends of the Everglades at www.everglades.org (founded by Marjorie Stoneman Douglas) or to the Sylvester Cancer Center at the University of Miami at www.advancement.miami.edu. Emily was deeply loved by her family and friends, and will be greatly missed!
