With heavy hearts, we announce the peaceful passing of Evert Josue Somarriba, 61, of Miami, on September 14, 2024, surrounded by the love and prayers of his family. Evert’s life was a testimony of faith, resilience, and grace, as he overcame many challenges while remaining steadfast in his Christian faith.
Born on June 17, 1963, in Managua, Nicaragua, Evert was the beloved son of Adolfo and Teresa Somarriba. Despite living with his disability, he embraced life with courage, always trusting in God's plan for him. His positive outlook and unwavering faith touched all who knew him, serving as an inspiration to family, friends, and caregivers.
Evert found great joy in the simple things—taking pictures, making family albums, attending church, playing the guitar and singing worship songs. He was a man of deep faith, never wavering in his trust in Jesus Christ. Even in moments of difficulty, his spirit remained steadfast and filled with God’s joy, strength, and bravery.
Though his physical abilities were limited, Evert’s spirit was boundless. He had an incredible sense of humor, a gentle heart, and an infectious smile that could light up any room. His family often described him as a "silent warrior," who faced every challenge with strength, humility, and faith.
Evert is survived by his loving family: his siblings, Jairo, Nery, Jocsan, Jonathan, Perla and Mayra Somarriba a large extended family who loved him dearly. He was a special uncle to Yorlene Vanessa Ros, Teresa and Wendy Guillen, Xavier and Gabriel Quinones, Javier Navarrete, Josiah and Elizabeth Grana, Mayita, Joliet, Dayanci, Jamie, Deyanira, Livia, Jenalis, Maria Jose, Mariano, Brandon, Aron, Obed, Jehu, Benjamin, Johnny, Mauricio Somarriba, and cherished by many. Though he never married or had children, Evert was deeply loved by all who were blessed to know him.
The Somarriba family finds comfort in knowing that Evert is now whole, walking with Jesus in heaven, free of earthly limitations.
A celebration of Evert’s life will be held at Caballero Rivero Westchester on September 20, 2024, at 6:00 p.m.
