Gloria Diaz De Gomez passed away peacefully, on December 21, 2025 in Miami, Florida. She was 97 years old.
She lived a life full of kindness, strength, and unforgettable moments surrounded by family.
Gloria was a cherished mother, grandmother, aunt, mother-in-law, teacher and friend. She loved books, Broadway plays and good conversations.
She was born in Havana Cuba in 1928 to Mercedes and Jose Diaz. She graduated from the University of Havana where she earned a degree in Mathematics. It was there that she met the love of her life “Tino” in a Chemistry class. They married and had a daughter, “Glorita.”
She left her beloved Cuba and settled in Puerto Rico in 1961. She taught at the University of Puerto Rico and Colegio Regional de Bayamon for many years. She was an inspiration and a mentor to students and colleagues. She loved Puerto Rico very much. She moved to Miami in 2001 to be with her family.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Aurentino Gomez (Tino) and her beautiful sisters, who she adored, Rosa and Mercedes (Nena).
She is survived by her loving daughter Gloria Gomez Gonzalez, granddaughters Melissa and Laura, son-in law Eusebio Gonzalez, as well as, her nieces and nephews, who she loved so dearly.
Gloria’s memory will always be in the heart of her family and friends. She will be forever missed and loved.
