Con profundo amor y pesar, anunciamos el fallecimiento de nuestro querido Ido B. Vidal Dibut, quien partió en paz con el Señor el 7 de septiembre de 2025 en Miami, Florida, a la edad de 83 años.

Nacido el 12 de diciembre de 1941 en Cienfuegos, Cuba, Ido fue el amado hijo de Bartolo Liborio Vidal y Dulce María Dibut. Desde muy joven mostró el espíritu emprendedor y la determinación que marcarían su vida. A los nueve años fundó su primer negocio: una pequeña compañía de especias. Con la ayuda de su tía y una vecina, empacaba las especias en bolsitas, fabricaba los cajones de madera para transportarlas y recorría en bicicleta las tiendas para venderlas. También tallaba caballitos de madera para vender en la calle. Aunque sus primeras ganancias las gastó comprando dulces y pasas, obtuvo algo mucho más valioso: la comprensión del poder del trabajo duro, los negocios y las posibilidades.

Con el tiempo, Ido descubrió otra pasión: la actuación y la comedia. Alcanzó la fama en Cuba durante las décadas de 1960 y 1970 como parte del legendario dúo cómico Ido y Eddy. Su ingenio, humor y carisma en el escenario lo convirtieron en uno de los comediantes más queridos de Cuba.

En 1979, Ido dejó Cuba junto a su familia en busca de libertad y nuevas oportunidades. En Miami, comenzó nuevamente desde cero, construyendo un legado empresarial como fundador y dueño de Miami Doors Inc., VDD Doors y JC Hardware. Su dedicación a su oficio y su incansable ética de trabajo lo acompañaron hasta su último día. Proveer para su familia y crear oportunidades para los demás fue la fuerza que impulsó su vida.

Sin embargo, más allá de los negocios, la fama y los logros, lo que más definió a Ido fue su amor por su familia. Fue un esposo amoroso y protector a su amada, Gudelia Vidal. Juntos construyeron una hermosa vida, que habría alcanzado 61 años de matrimonio el 18 de septiembre de 2025. Fue un orgulloso padre de sus hijos: Ido Vidal II, Dulce María Vidal-Hernandez (casada con Juan M. Hernández) e Idalmis Marina Vidal-Gibbons (casada con Steven C. Gibbons). Encontró inmensa alegría en sus nietos y bisnietos: Danielle, Dulce, Ido III, Yara, Saida, Tyler y Evabella, además de sus “nietos de cuatro patas” Waffles y Winnie, y sus nietos adoptivos Kaleb, Santiago y María Paula.

La fe y la compasión de Ido fueron constantes en su vida. A través de su labor ministerial, tanto en Miami como en su querida Cuba, tocó innumerables vidas con generosidad, humildad y esperanza.

Será recordado como un comediante brillante, un empresario valiente y, por encima de todo, un esposo, padre, abuelo y bisabuelo amoroso. Tenía una personalidad más grande que la vida misma, capaz de llenar cualquier espacio con su risa, su bondad y su energía. Aunque será profundamente extrañado, su legado de amor, alegría y servicio brillará para siempre en las muchas vidas que tocó.

With deep love and sorrow, we announce the passing of our beloved Ido B. Vidal Dibut, who departed peacefully on September 7, 2025, in Miami, Florida, at the age of 83.

Born on December 12, 1941, in Cienfuegos, Cuba, Ido was the cherished son of Bartolo Liborio Vidal and Dulce María Dibut. From a very young age, he showed the entrepreneurial spirit and determination that would define his life. At just nine years old, he founded his first business, a small spice company. With the help of his aunt and a neighbor, he packed spices into bags, crafted wooden containers to carry them, and rode his bike from store to store selling them. He also carved wooden horses to sell in the streets. Though he spent his first earnings on sweets and raisins, he gained something far greater: an understanding of the power of hard work, business, and possibility.

As he grew, Ido discovered another passion, acting and comedy. He rose to fame in Cuba during the 1960s and 1970s as one half of the legendary comedic duo Ido y Eddy. His wit, humor, and charisma made him one of Cuba’s most beloved comedians.

In 1979, Ido left Cuba with his family in search of freedom and new opportunities. In Miami, he once again started from scratch, building a lasting business legacy as the founder and owner of Miami Doors Inc., VDD Doors, and JC Hardware. His devotion to his craft and his relentless work ethic carried him through until his very last day. Providing for his family and creating opportunities for others was the driving force of his life.

Beyond the businesses, the fame, and the accomplishments, what defined Ido most was his love for his family. He was a loving and protective husband to his cherished wife, Gudelia Vidal. Together they built a beautiful life and, on September 18, 2025, would have celebrated their 61st wedding anniversary. He was a proud father to his children: Ido Vidal II, Dulce María Vidal-Hernandez (married to Juan M. Hernandez), and Idalmis Marina Vidal-Gibbons (married to Steven C. Gibbons). He found immeasurable joy in his grandchildren and great-grandchildren: Danielle, Dulce, Ido III, Yara, Saida, Tyler, and Evabella, along with his “fur grandkids” Waffles and Winnie, and his adopted grandchildren Kaleb, Santiago and Maria Paula.

Ido’s faith and compassion were constants in his life. Through his ministry work, both in Miami and in his beloved Cuba, he touched countless lives with generosity, humility, and hope.

He will be remembered as a brilliant comedian, a fearless entrepreneur, and above all, a loving husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather. He had a personality larger than life itself, able to fill any space with his laughter, his kindness, and his energy. Though he will be deeply missed, his legacy of love, joy, and service will forever shine in the many lives he touched.
