

Jean “Cherry” Chin Sept 18, 1944 to March 5, 2017 Jean, Auntie Cherry to most, true to her nature, passed peacefully at 72. She was born in Kingston, Jamaica, grew up in Montego Bay, and attended Mount Alvernia High School. She worked as a secretary in Boston, Massachusetts for an engineering company. On a trip back to Jamaica to visit family, she met Richard Chin and after one year filled with international love letters they got married and stayed married for 46 years. In that time, they had one son, Gregory (Duanne) and her cherished grandchildren Mia Jolie and Tyler. She is predeceased by her older sister Yvonne Lee (Barry). She is also survived by her brother Dave Wan (Alice) and many wonderful nieces, nephews. Cherry is known for her loving, gentle, and kind ways. She was organized, neat, punctual, and always willing to help. She loved butterflies, flowers, especially orchids, her garden, and chatting on the phone. She loved to eat Jamaican patties, pizza, crab, fried fish, and oxtail. She loved to cook and share these meals with family and friends. We will always remember you. She enjoyed keeping everyone around her fed and comfortable. In lieu of flowers, please donate food or money to a charity or food bank of your choice that feeds hungry people. The viewing, service, and burial will be held on Sunday, March 19, 2017.
