

On Thursday July 27, 2017 John H. Patterson Jr., son of John H. Patterson Sr. and Tyler Winifred Gatewood, known to his friends as "Jack", passed away peacefully at 79 years old after fighting a difficult illness. Always a warrior, Jack is lovingly remembered by his wife and best friend for 45 years, Michele Fiorentino Patterson, and their daughters Monique Ayala (Dario), and Simone Lowry (Ryan). Jack's precious grandchildren Alexandra, Adrian, and Brooke will miss him dearly and fondly remember their cheerful Grandpa. Jack will also be remembered by his brother-in- law Richard Tennent, sister-in- law Patricia Patterson, nieces, nephews, extended family and dear friends. Jack was predeceased by his brother, Edward Patterson, his sister, Patricia Tennent, and father-in-law, Isaac “Zaky” Fiorentino. Jack lived a full life of adventure and travels. He graduated from Valley Forge Military College and went on to honorably serve in the United States Coast Guard for eight years. He retired in 2000 from Barry University as a Facilities Manager. Jack enjoyed the latest in new technology and sought new adventures. As a young man he raced speed boats competitively, was an avid fisherman and hunter, and enjoyed nature. He travelled the world with his wife, visiting beautiful places and experiencing new cultures. Later in life, he discovered his passion for the game of golf and spent many days watching the sunrise on the greens. Services honoring Jack's life will take place at Woodlawn South 11655 SW 117 Avenue. Visitation is Monday July 31 from 6-9 with a prayer at 7 pm. Blessing and burial is Tuesday August 1 at 11 am.
