

Jon Douglas is survived by his wife of 65 years, Louise Hutchison, of Miami Florida.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by his four children, Kurt Hutchison of Maryville, TN, Jon Andrew Hutchison of Miami, FL, Lynn Hutchison of Hialeah, FL, and Laurie Low of Hollywood, FL. He also has four Grandchildren, Enrique Ponimansky, Kurt D Hutchison, Jessica Ponimansky and Chelsea Low, and 3 great-grandchildren, Liliana, Vincent and Zoey.
Jon Douglas had a PhD in Physical Chemistry and was a member of both Mensa and Triple Nine Society all of which he was extremely proud. He started his career as an Assistant Professor teaching Physical Chemistry at University of Tulsa for 2 years, which lead to a Faculty Fellow position at Nasa working on the Scramjet and ended his career at North American Biologicals, Inc. (NABI) as Director of Clinical Laboratory, Regulatory Affairs, Quality Assurance, and Safety, and retired after NABI was bought by ZLB (Zentral Laboratorium Blut Spendedienst) with many other jobs along the way, including graduate assistant and professor at various Universities. In addition, he held many certifications in Quality, Safety and Clinical Laboratory Management.
During his retirement he spent much of his time on his true passion of playing trumpet with both the Alhambra Orchestra and the Broward Symphony Orchestra. He also enjoyed spending time with his family and grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Jon, known as Doug to many, loved to travel, read extensively, and write, as he wrote a few books on TQM as well as many memoirs detailing many interesting details of his life.
He was also an accomplished swimmer and swam in The Ocean Mile swim annually for many years at Ft. Lauderdale Beach, Delray Beach, Crandon Park and along with other locations across SW Florida.
Doug was an intellectual brainiac who never missed an episode of Jeopardy. He loved his crossword puzzles and trivia and brain teasers.
Doug had a heart of gold and a great love for his family. He will be sadly missed by all.
There will be a time for family and friends to pay their respects on Friday July 1st between 6:00 pm and 9:00pm at the Caballero Rivero Sunset Funeral Home in Miami.
