Juan Osvaldo Cabanas was born in Vereda Nueva, Cuba on Thursday, June 23rd, 1932, to Felipe and Gregoria Cabanas. He passed peacefully at his home and surrounded by his beloved family on April 5th, 2023, at the age of 90.
After fleeing Cuba and the communist regime in April of 1967 at the age of 34 he settled in California with the goal of achieving the ‘American Dream’. Juan made that dream a reality and didn’t stop there. He enjoyed the fruits of his labor by providing for the main priority of his life, his family. He also enjoyed travelling, music, dancing, going to Cuban Punto Guajiro and writing beautiful poetry. He always impressed with this sharp wit and charisma. He was a man that would light up even the darkest of rooms just with his presence.
He is survived by his wife of 67 years, Veronica, his two daughters, Maritza and her Husband Kurt, and Marlene and her husband Oliver, his 4 grandchildren, Christiane and her husband Cyle, Mandy and her husband Matt, Bianca and Giovanni, and his great-grandson, Jackson.
