I just wanted to let everyone know how long I've known Martha, Lidia's daughter: we have been the closest of friends since 11th grade. That being said, I can tell you that Lidia was always good to me whenever I would visit their home off of Sunset Drive.
I will miss the matriarch of this wonderful family, and can only say G-d bless everyone, and may Lidia shine down from Heaven with her angel's wings on. 

Our most memorable moments with the family was always being invited to their Christmas Eve dinners,(Noche buena). Since the time we moved here to Miami she welcomed us with open arms as a part of the family. Year in and year out, she had my daughters and I there. No matter how our lives changed, she welcomed all the new members to her home. From babies, boyfriends,  to new spouses. To one of the warmest, happiest and loving aunt's I had the pleasure to know. May you rest in peace and may your memories be cherished on every christams Eve dinner to be held in your honor.

Since the day I met you, I loved you.  Thank you for opening your doors and welcoming all my family into your home with open arms, where my kids and my nieces grew up celebrating our favorite holiday of the year "Nochebuena."   We all looked forward to your delicious pork,  black beans and yuca and mostly to our annual gathering with all the family. 

 Because of you, we saw our family grow year after year and it became more than a holiday, it was something that helped us remember how special it is to be part of something bigger than ourselves; it became an event we all looked forward to and will forever be treasured.  You will always be in our hearts and always there in all our Nochebuenas.

You filled so many of our lives with kindness, encouragement and love that it's only natural to feel a great loss today.  But for me that feeling quickly turned to so many wonderful memories our family can celebrate.  You were part of some of my earliest, most unforgettable memories... my summers spent with you, Abuela Virginia, Tio Paco, Alina, Lidia and Martha, my wedding, when our entire family came together for the first time since leaving Cuba, so many noche buenas to count, and  many other moments you made special. 

Your no-nonsense, quick wit and kind spirit lives on in all these memories and always will. This is what I celebrate and take with me as does anyone whose life you touched. Above all, I'm happy you are in God's light, celebrating your life with others who created our wonderful family.

It’s so surreal, knowing you’re not physically with us anymore is difficult to fully come to terms with. All I can really say, all any of us can really say, is thank you. Your love and devotion to the people you loved was unmeasurable. You went out of your way to help everyone and did it because you simply cared so much. There is no one like you, and I will hold you in my heart and my thoughts forever. Thank you for changing our lives for the better, thank you for being the amazing person you were and thank you for loving us so much. We love you and will carry you with us forever! I love you!!!!

Thank you for being like a grandmother to us since we were 5 and 9 years old. Whether it was bringing me lentil soup when I was in the hospital, teaching us how to make white chocolate lollipops for John’s baby shower, offering your home for the boys’ first birthday parties, or baking me my favorite flan in the world for my birthday, your love and thoughtfulness came through with every gesture. 
I was attempting to explain your passing to the boys, and asked them if they understood what it meant. Before they could answer, I told them that it meant they wouldn’t be able to see you anymore. They both immediately replied, “Yes, we will! In Heaven!” Then, they proceeded to tell me that you are now in Heaven with your mom, dad and old friends, and that you’re having a good time with them. So, Tia, until we meet again, thank you for helping change the course of my life to what it is today! I love you.
