Magaly Ponce de León Tuohey passed away August 1st, 2019, in the presence of her adoring family. She was the captain of her family ship and navigated through both calm and rough waters with utmost love, strength, and integrity always. Born in Camaguey, Cuba, she moved to New York City in the eighth grade and later resided in Newark, New Jersey where she attended high school at St. Vincent Academy for young women. A few years later in the 1950s, she moved to Miami, Florida and purchased her first speedboat nurturing her life-long love of the ocean, boating, traveling on cruise ships and fishing. She was a terrific dancer and won numerous mambo, merengue and cha cha charity dance competitions. In 1964, she married her Irish banker sweetheart, Donald F. Tuohey. For the rest of her years, she celebrated St. Patrick’s Day just as fervently as any native Irish woman and loved his family deeply just like her own. She was a devoted daughter, sister, wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother and friend and our number one fan. Her memory and loving spirit continue to spread through her children Michael Tuohey and Michele Tuohey and their children Ashley Tuohey, Nicholas Tuohey, Zulian Tuohey Martinez, Izer Tuohey Martinez, and grandchildren Angela Perez, Andrea Lopez, Isabella Lopez and Lucas Lopez, sister-in-law Janet Tuohey, brother-in-law Raymond Tuohey, nieces Brenda Thayer and Beth Vashalifski, nephews Raymond Tuohey, Jr. and Robert Tuohey, their spouses and children and dear friends Maresa Ferez, Antonio Lopez-Ferez, Danilo Fajardo Ferez, Racquel Colon, Joel Lopez, Sara Sanderson and Jennifer Fleming.
