Manuel “Manolo“ Rosales, age 86 of Coral Gables passed on December 31, 2020 of complications of Covid-19. He was born and raised by his mother Teresa Ramirez, aunt Elba Garcia, and uncle Carlos Garcia in Baire, Cuba. His father Manuel died when Manolo was two years of age. His family moved to Havana when he was a teenager, where he attended business school, and then worked for the Federal insurance company. He met his life mate, Tomasa “Deisy” Rosales, at age 20 and they were married in 1961. They immigrated to the United States as political refugees and lived in New York City, where he worked for Gilbert Industries until 1971, when they moved to Connecticut. They lived in Fairfield, and Manolo worked for 30 years with his cousin at Las Palmas grocery, and was a member of the Liceo Cubano of Bridgeport. They retired to Coral Gables in 2005.
Manolo is survived by his wife of 59 years, Deisy, his son Dr. Manuel Rosales and daughter-in-law Dennis, and son Jose Rosales. He also is survived by five grandchildren: Sara, Manuel, Andres, Shannon, and Stephanie Rosales.
Manolo loved sports, especially football and baseball, and was a fan of the New York Giants and the New York Mets. He also enjoyed traveling, casino trips, and gardening. Manolo was a generous, funny, and patient husband and father. He was a loyal friend, courageous, and fierce when he had to be. He was dearly loved, and will be greatly missed.
