Her father was Faustino Diaz Garcia from Asturias, Spain and her mother Emilia Fanjul from Las Villas, Cuba. One of five children, Maria was a teacher in Cuba before escaping with her family clandestinely in 1964 from the Castro regime and were rescued by a British Naval Ship. Maria was married to Miguel Suarez (d 2006) is survived by her Son Miguel Suarez (wife Celina) and her daughter Maria Victoria Suarez (husband Roberto) 3 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren. She passed away peacefully in her sleep on April 2, 2022. Maria was the matriarch of the family loved everyone and enjoyed music and especially reciting poems, especially those from Jose Marti. May she Rest In Peace.
The family will receive friends and family at a visitation service being held on Sunday, April 10, 2022 from 6:00 PM to 12:00 AM at Caballero Rivero Westchester, 8200 BIRD RD, MIAMI, FL 33155.
A catholic funeral mass to honor the life of Maria will occur Monday, April 11, 2022 at 10:00 AM at Our Lady Of Mercy within their Mass Chapel inside the Mausoleum, 11411 NW 25 St, Doral, Florida 33172. The entombment is to follow after celebrating mass.
