Neurgenia attended the Colegio Profesional de Comercio de Cienfuegos in the early 1950s and later the University of Havana where she excelled in accounting and business. After university she pursued her career as an accountant and married Jose de Jesus Vivero in 1964 in Havana.
While living in New York City in the 1970s she devoted herself to her family and raising her children while navigating a new country and culture. After moving to Panama in the 1980s, she became very involved in local social services projects and eventually became the President of the Sociedad de Esposas de Banqueros, an organization with broad international membership supporting many philanthropic efforts. After moving to Miami she became a loyal volunteer with Family Friends, where she worked with disabled children and their caregivers.
Neurgenia was a courageous, determined and generous woman. She gave her family and children unconditional love and support throughout her entire life. During her long battle with Parkinson's disease, she was a model of perseverance and inner strength to all of us. She is survived by her children Mauricio Vivero and Elsa Vivero, and three grandsons Thomas, Nicolas and Andres.
In lieu of flowers, friends may donate to Friends of Caritas Cuba to provide meals to vulnerable elderly living in rural Cuba.
A memorial service will occur Sunday, May 15, 2022, from 2:00 PM to 5:00 PM at Caballero Rivero Little Havana, 3344 SW 8th Street, Miami, FL 33135.
Fond memories and expressions of sympathy may be shared at www.riverofuneralhomemiami.com for the Vivero family.
