Patricia Ann "Pat" Nitellis Gladieux passed away on Friday, July 22, at 6:34 PM, surrounded by her husband, James "Jim" Richard Gladieux, and her children, Anastasia "Stacy" Victoria, Nicholas Paul and his Finance Mars, and Camille Rose Gladieux. She will be missed by the memberships of her Bunco group, mahjongg group, Miami Music Club, and two book clubs. Additionally, she has the gratitude of the entire population of the Village of Palmetto Bay, where, as a founding member of the Special Events committee, suggested roasted corn for the annual village picnic and, along with Jim and Stacy, volunteered to serve up the corn for years.
Born in New Orleans, LA, in 1956, Pat moved to South Florida in 1959, where she met and married Jim in 1974. Together for 48 years, They have three children, Her children were her pride and joy, and while some might call her helicopter, she encouraged each to do their best. Her children were involved in their interests; Stacy was a gymnast, swimmer, and square dancer; Nick was a long-haired death metal musician, and Camille learned her mother's quick wit and ability to argue.
Pat was a leader, a community builder, and someone who always made herself available to help— but only if she was the one calling the shots. She was a woman who spoke her mind and apologized to no one. Outside of managing her family, Pat was a Girl Scout Leader, a treasurer for Miami Music Club, and a secretary for New Neighbors. She held countless other leadership positions than her family could recall.
Pat participated in many activities, but her favorite was Book Club, of which she was a founding member. Her crowning achievement was a "Red Tent" themed dinner, covered by the Miami Herald, where she served excellent Mediterranean food and draped the house in red fabric.
While she will not be cryogenically frozen and sent into space (like in Star Trek), her final resting place will be in her family plot. Please help her family and friends remember her kind heart, sharp mind, and wicked sense of humor. She was warm and welcoming and appreciated the friends she made throughout her life—especially the ones who enjoyed chatting about various topics, from Game of Thrones to Downton Abbey. Pat was included and modeled her values daily to her children, who grew up to be outstanding and loving adults.
The family would like to thank all the loved ones and distant friends for reaching out and supporting us during this difficult time. Whether it was through donating a meal, financial support, and emotional support-- We greatly appreciate it.
