Cathy Jane Steele Strong

STRONG, Cathy Jane, age 60 of Camden, OH passed away unexpectedly Saturday, December 17, 2016 at her residence. She was born August 17, 1956 in Hamilton, OH to the late Billy J. Steele, Sr. and Norma J. (Cole) Steele. In addition to her parents, Cathy was preceded in death by her brother, Billy J. Steele, Jr. and Granny Callahan. She is survived by her husband of 42 years, Jimmy R. Strong, Sr.; her children, Hady Henson of Lewisburg, Norma (Bryce) McWhorter of Kentucky, Jenny (Jesse) Foster of Franklin, Jimmy Ray Strong, Jr. of Indiana and Jane M. Steele of Trenton; 11 grandchildren; 2 great grandchildren; siblings, Richard Steele of West Elkton, Cindy Dillon of Eaton, Robert “Eric” Steele of Camden, Gary Lee “Ray” Steele of Eaton and JoAnna (Eugene) Cupp of Camden; many nieces, nephews and other extended family as well as her pups, Minnie and Scooter. Cathy attended Preble Shawnee Schools and had worked part-time with her husband at Toney Tools, a Dayton area machine shop. She was a dedicated wife, mother, mamaw and homemaker. She enjoyed quilting, shopping yard sales, collecting Christmas ornaments, spending time with her grandchildren as well as visiting flea markets and mushroom hunting with her husband. She was a gifted artist who enjoyed working with her hands crocheting, needle pointing and painting gifts for her family. She often quilted with the assistance of The Stitching Nook, Preble County Stitchers and Janice Lawson. Family will receive guests during visitation from 10:00 am – 12:00 pm Friday, December 23, 2016 at Gebhart-Schmidt-Parramore Funeral Home, Miamisburg. Funeral services will begin 12:00pm also on Friday at the funeral home following the visitation and Miami Valley Memory Gardens, Centerville will serve as Cathy’s final resting place.
