Dorcis E. Gibson Pelfrey

PELFREY, Dorcis E., age 89 of Centerville, passed away Friday, May 13, 2011 at Bethany Village. She was born September 27, 1921 in Huntington, West Virginia to the late Audrey P. Gibson, Sr. and Francis Fay (Ward) Gibson Jordan. In addition to her parents, Dorcis was preceded in death by her husband, James “Bob” Pelfrey (1996); brothers, Audrey “Jack” and Geri Gibson, Jr. and William and Hazel Gibson; a sister, Rosemary and Bill Frampton; daughter-in-law, Rose Pelfrey; nephew, Mitchell “Mitch” Anderson and a granddaughter, Jacquylan Scott. She is survived by her daughters, Mary “Jackye” and John Pennington of Monterey, TN, Rebecca and Joe Naylor of Centerville and Judy and Tim Vosler of Medway; sons, Bobby Pelfrey of Xenia, Roy “Ronnie” Pelfrey of Sherman, TX and Ralph “Randy” Pelfrey of Denison, TX; a brother, Richard and Sherry Gibson of Ann Arbor, MI; 17 grandchildren; 18 great grandchildren, and 3 great great grandchildren as well as numerous nieces, nephews, friends and loved ones. Dorcis was a homemaker but also had enjoyed her employment in the central services and pharmacy departments of several area hospitals. She loved flower gardening, cooking and singing. As an Air Force wife, Dorcis found it difficult to keep membership with a church; instead she found comfort in nationally broadcast Christian programs and praised Him through the music she held close to her heart. Funeral services will begin 9:30 AM Tuesday, May 17, 2011 at GEBHART-SCHMIDT-PARRAMORE Funeral Home, Miamisburg. Immediately following, burial will take place at Dayton National Cemetery.
