Jacqueline Jackie Renee Hummel Helter

HELTER, Jacqueline Renee “Jackie”, age 78 of Miami Township, passed away Sunday, October 27, 2013 at Kettering Medical Center. She was born June 17, 1935 in Harrisburg, PA to the late Harry C. and Virginia [Johnston] Hummel. In addition to her parents, Jackie was preceded in death by her husband, Larry R. Helter in 2005 and her buddy, Chance in February. She is survived by her children, Cathleen R. [Glenn] Rosenbarker of Liverpool, NY, Joyce E. Bogan of Reynoldsburg, OH, David M. [Julie] Helter of Oakwood and Scott [Lisa] Helter of West Carrollton; grandchildren, Ashley, Amanda, Laura, Jacob, Seth, Luke, Kyle, Sydney and Haley; her sister, Beverly [Paul] Sowers of Baltimore, MD and her St. John’s family. Jackie was a 1953 graduate of William Penn High School in Harrisburg, PA. In the 60’s she and Larry moved to Ohio for career opportunities. She became the advertising sales manager for the Kettering Oakwood Times working her way up from a receptionist position and retiring in 2002 after over 30 years of employment. Jackie was an active and enthusiastic member of St. John’s Evangelical Lutheran Church, Miamisburg. She co-wrote the church newsletter for more than 25 years and headed the Discipleship Committee which assisted numerous charitable organizations in the community. Jackie had always been dedicated to her family and served many years as a Troop Leader for Girl Scouts. She also enjoyed researching history and knitting dishcloths. Family will receive friends from 10:00 – 11:30 AM Thursday, October, 31, 2013 at St. John’s Evangelical Lutheran Church. Funeral services will follow at 11:30 AM officiated by Pastor Tina Scheuller. Burial will take place at David’s Cemetery, Dayton. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. John’s Evangelical Lutheran Church C/O The Discipleship Committee at 470 S.
