

He was born August 8, 1940 in Dayton the son of Arthur and Dorothy (Shade) Wagner.
Jim was a 1959 graduate of Miamisburg High School and attended Miami University. He served his country in the United States Army Reserves at the 2291st Army Field Hospital as an E-6 Staff Sergeant Medic. Jim worked for the United States Postal Service for 50 years, retiring in August of 2012. He served in various roles from mail carrier, Superintendent of Mail Operations at Miamisburg, Officer in Charge at Bellbrook and Trenton, Assistant Post Master at Miamisburg, Post Master at Tremont City, and finished the last 16 years as Post Master at Gratis. He was a member of the Minerva Lodge #98 F. & A.M. in Miamisburg, the Mound High Twelve, the Miamisburg Kiwanis Club, the Gratis Lions Club and the I.O.O.F. Lodge #30 - Gratis Odd Fellows. He enjoyed flower gardening, fossil hunting, bird watching, and going antiquing. Jim had a love for the outdoors, going on daily walks on the bike path, along the river, and around the neighborhoods of Miamisburg. His true joy in life was spending time with his family and friends.
He is survived by his loving wife of 53 years, Mary M. (Beach) Wagner; son, James A. Wagner (Colleen Kelly) of Wilmington; daughter, Angela D. (Carol) Costa of Richmond, VA; granddaughter, Sarah Costa of Richmond, VA; as well as his favorite pet, Priscilla the cat.
James was preceded in death by his parents and his brother, Robert “Pork” Wagner.
A funeral service will be held at 2 PM on Thursday, June 8, 2017 at GEBHART-SCHMIDT-PARRAMORE Funeral Home, Miamisburg with Rev. Michael G. Hout officiating. The family will receive friends 1 hour prior to the service. Burial will follow in Highland Memorial Cemetery, Miamisburg.
