

Age 79 of Miamisburg, Ohio passed away on Wednesday, August 17, 2011 at his residence, surrounded by his loving family. He was born August 5, 1932 in Dayton to the late Roy Frank and Sarah Mildred (Shepard) Newland. Also preceding him in death was his son, Jeem Newland II. He is survived by his loving wife of 60 years, Mila Jean (Gilkerson) Newland; sons, Rick (Robin) Newland, Rodney (Lori) Newland; daughters, Jina Marie (Michael) O’Shaughnessy, Julie Christine (Michael) Bolton; daughter-in-law, Linda Newland; grandchildren, Justin, Ian, Corey, Michael, Jeem III, Lindsey, Kristy, Shaun; and many great-grandchildren. Moose graduated from Chaminade in 1950, then joined the U.S. Navy and sailed upon the U.S.S Chipola during the Korean War. He coached Little League baseball and football, volunteered at St. Vincent, and worked bingo at Our Lady of Good Hope Catholic Church while remaining a lifelong member of the church. Moose was also a member and past Grand Knight of the Knights of Columbus, an Amateur Radio Operator (known as WB8RXI) and a member and past president of MARA-Mound Amateur Radio Assoc. He worked as an engineer with Monsanto EG&G Research for over 31 years. Friends and family may visit from 6-8 p.m. on Monday, August 22 at the Gebhart-Schmidt-Parramore Funeral Home, 508 East Linden Ave., Miamisburg. Mass of Christian Burial 10 a.m. Tuesday, August 23 at Our Lady of Good Hope Catholic Church, 6 South Third St., Miamisburg with Fr. Tom Nevels celebrant. Entombment following at Miami Valley Memory Gardens. Memorial contributions may be given to the American Cancer Society: Relay for Life (Springboro), in memory of Jeem.
