Jenna Butler Parlette

Age 20, a junior at Wilmington College and a graduate of Miamisburg High School, passed away Tuesday, September 3, 2013 at Methodist Hospital in Indianapolis, Indiana. She was born on February 11, 1993 at Miami Valley Hospital in Dayton, Ohio. She is preceded in death by grandparents, Charles Edward and June Butler. Jenna is survived by her mother, Lisa Parlette; father and step-mother, Jim and Stephanie Butler and their children, Isabella and Maxim and Allison Moncheck; maternal grandparents, Charles and Carole Parlette; maternal great grandmother, Dolores Lewis and a host of aunts, uncles, cousins and friends. In high school, Jenna was a member of the Cross Country and Track team where she was an accomplished 4-year Varsity runner. Jenna was in her junior year at Wilmington College studying Health and Physical Education and a member of the Cross Country and track team. She was on the dean’s list and excelled in her athletic endeavors. She holds the Wilmington record in both the 5,000 and 10,000-meter races, and is a five-time All-Ohio Athletic Conference designee in track and cross country. Jenna earned Academic All-OAC status and was an All-Academic selection by the United States Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches’ Association. She was named All-Great Lakes Region after the 2012 cross country season. Jenna’s personality was apparent to everyone who came in contact with her through her kindness, fun spirit, and competitiveness. Jenna always contributed positively to the community by sharing her personal challenges with her pacemaker/defibrillator and other health issues. She never allowed her challenges to stop her from doing what she loved – running. Jenna ran with the motto, which was coined by her Papaw, “Run with your legs, win with your heart.” She was carefree, happy, quirky and confident in every decision she made. Jenna’s free spirit was contagious to all she encountered. “She will be profoundly missed.” Family will receive friends at a Celebration of Life from 2:00-4:00 PM Saturday, September 7, 2013 at Miamisburg Middle School, 8668 Miamisburg-Springboro Pike, Miamisburg, Ohio.
