

Age 95 of Miamisburg, passed away on Tuesday, October 27, 2015 at Hospice of Dayton. Marjorie was born in Ayr, Nebraska, the youngest of 7 children. She grew up on a farm, loving her ponies and gardening. She graduated from Doniphan High School and then her family moved to Grand Island, NE. There she worked in a photographic studio, taking, developing, and hand tinting photographs. During WWII she worked at the Cornhusker Ordinance Plant, spray painting bombs. There she met her future husband, Luther William (Bill) Napier, an MP (Military Police) at the airfield which trained Bombardment Squadrons. In the mid-fifties the family moved to Miamisburg where she worked as an accountant for 17 years at Bill and Ron’s Sohio/BP service station on Central Avenue. Among her many interests were photography, oil painting, gardening, and caring for her flowers. She had a loving nature and lived caring for other’s feelings and welfare. Marge was the youngest daughter of William Henry Derr and Amelia Fredricka Folken Derr. She was preceded in death by her 2 brothers, John and Elmer (Bus) and 4 sisters, Frances, Bess, Alene, and Dorothy, and her husband, Bill. She is survived by her son, Ron Napier, who cared for her during her final years, and his wife, Sandra, of Oakwood. Her daughter Karen (Kay) Napier Griest, and husband, David, live in Poughkeepsie, NY. She dearly loved her 3 grandchildren, Jennifer Napier Cole and husband, Donald, of Liberty Township and Kendra Griest Rogers and husband, David, of Poughkeepsie, NY, and Kenneth Griest of Gardner, MA. She was also blessed with 5 great-grandchildren: Taylor and Austin Cole, Nicholas and Owen Rogers, and Andrew Griest. In lieu of flowers, gifts in Marjorie Napier’s name may be made to Hospice of Dayton, where she peacefully passed away in their loving care. We also thank Lisa from Grace Works and her loving neighbors, Madeline and Andy and their children, Thomas and Caroline, who were like great-grandchildren to Marge. A private funeral for immediate family and friends will be held October 31 at Gebhart-Schmidt-Parramore Funeral Home in Miamisburg. Burial will follow at Highland Memorial Cemetery.
