Phyllis Anne Martin Welling

Age 83 of Miamisburg passed away unexpectedly at her home on Wednesday, September 3, 2014. She was born in Cincinnati on November 8, 1930 to the late George and Myrtle Olive (Clark) Martin. In addition to her parents, Phyllis was preceded in death by her husband of 50 years, Charley W. Welling in 2001; a brother, Thomas L. Martin and her precious Brittany spaniel, Whoday. She is survived by her children, Susan (Willie) Owens of College Station, TX, Jeffery Welling of Northfield, OH and Jon (Casey) Welling of Miamisburg; grandchildren, Tami R. Hatfield of College Station, TX and Timothy R. (Marichu) Hatfield of Miamisburg; her great grandchildren; siblings, George E. (Malvie) Martin of Germantown and Beverly (Jack) Ramey of Miamisburg; her “baby”, a beloved cocker spaniel, Brutus as well as other extended family and friends. Phyllis was a 1948 graduate of Miamisburg High School and went on to study at the Miami Valley School of Nursing. She made a career of her employment with General Motors, Inland; retiring in 1989 after 36 years. She was actively involved in the Retiree and Inland Girls Clubs through GM. Phyllis was dedicated member of the St. James United Methodist Church and became heavily involved in many of their programs including, the Thrift Shop, Helping Hands and Blessings in a Bag. She adored football and was “THE #1 FAN” of the Buckeyes and Bengals teams. She enjoyed time with family but occasionally was able to indulge in a game of Bunco with her friends. Family will receive friends from 9:30 – 11:00 AM Tuesday, September 9, 2014 at St. James UMC, Miamisburg. Funeral services will begin at 11:00 AM Tuesday also at the church and officiated by Pastor Deb Holder. Burial will follow at Miami Valley Memory Gardens, Centerville.
