I can’t believe you’re gone Schoony. For the past 8 years I’ve been with my family you were here every step of the way. It didn’t matter if it was at Rod Dee’s or when you showed up to our house at 7 in the morning, you were always making someone laugh. My favorite memory is when you came over to the old house for a bonfire. You sat down in a lawn chair and leaned back too far. You ended up doing a backflip and rolling down the hill. You were so mad you got up and left. You always kept it real with people, no matter if it was good or bad. We all love you and the kids are going to miss Papaw Rick.

I first met and got to know Rick back in the mid to late 70s after we both shared a great love of baseball and playing softball together. After a few years, I decided to organize a team to include Rick and a few other friends of ours that we knew that loved to play the game as much as we did, to include Rick's brother Jeff. They both were avid bowlers and got me started too. Rick always talked about the 300 game that was denied him because of the Xenia Tornado, and all his legendary 3000 hits on the softball diamond. He loved to crack jokes and tell funny stories and make people laugh. He knew the Lord Jesus Christ and could quote scripture out of the Bible, and would warn you about the End Times we are living in today. Now he is in the presence of the Lord at last! I loved Rick like a brother, and I'm going to deeply miss him and the friendship we shared for the last 50 plus years! So long dear friend, till we meet again up in Heaven in the presence of the Lord! May you rest in His Peace! Amen!

Remembering a kind and dear classmate from years ago that was always a pleasure to see from time to time, Rick always had a humorous story to share . It was a delight to have known him.

Thinking of Rick tonight and all the joy he brought to others .. He loved talking about The Beatles. He knew every song what year it was made ....He will be missed Greatly by many people.  He got by with a little help from his friends.      Fly High              Patti Collins

Rick I can’t believe you’re gone. You were such a special person. So many memories we’ve shared the past 7 years. You always said what was on your mind and sure as heck didn’t have a filter lol. I looked at you like a grandfather.  I am so incredibly sad. You touched the lives of so many people. I know you’re at peace with your mom and dad in heaven. Rick, can’t believe I’m writing this to you I still can’t wrap my mind around you really being gone! You have been one of my best friends for the past 11 years, all of the good memories we have made together I’ll never forget you were a one of a kind!! I don’t even have the words to say. I’m still in shock or don’t even seem real.  I can’t believe I’m writing you this on your obituary. The memories I’ll forever cherish that we have made over these last eleven years . Thank you for all the great times and laughs that won’t ever be forgotten . You made our day every day you came into the store . We always enjoyed all the stories. Ones I’ll never forget and hold onto. You talking about your bowling and the perfect 300 game you bowled . All your softball memories you shared . You talking to old friends when they would come in the store . Loved always seeing you catch up laugh and giggle and Reminisce about old times. 

I’ll miss the random phone calls, you stopping by our house at 7 am or midnight!! Our kids were always up to have a good time with rick. It could have been about what’s going on in the world or just something silly !! 

I hope you just knew what you meant to all of us. I know the carryout will never be the same with out rick there making us laugh or keeping us in line. As simple as me picking up a candy bar or bag of chips and you telling me that I didn’t need that or to check the sugars!! 

We will miss all the kickball games we played in our back yard . You showing up to the pool to see us. Showing up at at our family cookouts or birthday parties . Last party we celebrated with you I’ll never forget was June 11th the kids graduation party.  

I could go on and on about our memories but the list would never end. Everyday since you been gone We’ve had things happen to us to give us a reminder your still here with us.  . I hope when you made it to heaven your mom and dad was there with opens arms. I know how much you loved them and missed them.  It’s not goodbye my friend it’s see you later ..

You will never be forgotten !! No one will never take your place at rod dees . You was so loved and cared for by so many .
