

WHEATLEY, Richard Wilson, age 70, passed away, Saturday, January 10, 2026, at his home in Miamisburg, OH, with his family by his side. He fought a courageous battle with prostate cancer for fifteen years. Rich was born May 10, 1955, in Norfolk, VA to the late Cleveland Jabez “Cliff” and Edythe (Gallup) Wheatley. He was the husband of Cindy Garmon Wheatley. Together, they were blessed with the love of two children, three grandchildren and seven great grandchildren.
Rich was a long-time employee of NCR Corporation, retiring in 2021 after 47 years. In his spare time, he enjoyed bowling, golfing, woodworking and coaching baseball, but was happiest when being with his family.
Rich was preceded in death by his parents, a brother, Robert Clay Wheatley and a sister-in-law, Karen Garmon Gleason.
Left to cherish his memory is his wife of 52 years, Cindy; daughter, Lisa Bowman (Elvin), of Miamisburg, OH and son Michael Wheatley (Mary), of Bowling Green, KY; Three grandchildren, Austin Bowman (Morgan), of Carlisle, OH, Chelsi Bowman Horras (Jordan), of Huber Heights, OH and Kellie Bowman Hellrigel (Randy), of Riverside, OH; seven great grandchildren, Tanner, Colt and Leroy Bowman, Hudson and Hadley Horras, Blakely and Alexander Jacob “AJ” Hellrigel; one brother, Ross Wheatley (Sherri), of Moyock, NC., two sisters, Susan Taylor (Glenn), of Virginia Beach, VA, Emly Outen (John), of Norfolk, VA; brothers-in-law, Terry Garmon, of Virginia Beach, VA, Randy Garmon (Darlene), of Chesapeake, VA; sister-in-law, Donna Williams (Brad), of Midlothian, VA; many loved nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
The family will receive friends at Hollomon-Brown, Princess Anne Chapel, Virginia Beach, VA on Saturday, January 17, 2026, from 10-11AM. Services will begin at 11AM. Committal rites will be performed and services concluded at the adjacent Colonial Grove Memorial Park immediately following.
