My dad, Al, lived his life the way he believed it should be lived, honest, hardworking, and true to his word. He always said you should mean what you say and say what you mean, and that your word was all you really had. He didn’t just say it, he lived it.
He spent nearly 18 years with his partner, Sheila, who was a steady and important part of his life. Together they built a life full of family, loyalty, and shared memories. He cared deeply about Sheila’s children and grandchildren and treated them as his own.
He is survived by his daughter, Ashly; his son-in-law, Ryan; and his grandchildren, Audrey and Liam, who meant the world to him.
He loved being outside, tinkering, fixing things, or just enjoying the quiet. When I was little, I thought my dad could fix anything, and honestly, that never really changed. If something broke, he didn’t walk away from it, he figured it out. And if someone needed help, he showed up the same way. He didn’t make a big deal about it. He just did what needed to be done.
He had strong opinions and didn’t sugarcoat much. What you saw was what you got, straightforward, honest, and real.
I know he’s sitting by a fire, drinking a beer, with Diesel by his side again.
He’s going to be missed more than words can really say.
