Grace was the second of seven children born to Joseph and Rose (mn Arnone) Guzzo who immigrated to our country in 1905. Times were difficult for Grace and her family in the late 1920's so at 15 years of age, her uncle Salvatore Arnone, a barber, lent the family enough money so that Grace could go to beauty school. She opened the Marview Beauty Salon at 15232 Madison Avenue, Lakewood, Ohio on February 10, 1932. She and her siblings kept the salon open until finally her brother Fred, who on his 85 birthday in 2003, gold chains and all, styled the hair of his last satisfied customer. Grace continued to work at the salon long after her marriage to her equally Italian businessman husband, Alfred Cianfarani on August 10, 1940. They raised their three children, Alfred, Carol, and Tonnette the older two who still remember their mother bringing them with her to her beauty shop. She and her husband Al shared with their children their love of extended family, beach vacations, business, sports and shooting. Their entire family met every Sunday at her mother's home and enjoyed the day-long Italian feast well into her 80's. Rose was quite the entrepreneur herself as the head seamstress at the downtown Cleveland Higbee's Department Store. Grace and her husband lived together in the family home in Seven Hills until he passed in 1988. Grace played poker with her Seven Hills crew until her mid-nineties but always wanted to return to the Lakewood area. So, she sold her home and moved to the cherry wood gilded Normandy Apartments in Rocky River. She loved the people, her apartment, the exercise classes and social activities including bowling where she was written up in the Normandy News for having bowled "a 216 game." She was known as the "puzzle lady" as working on the puzzle put her in a position to invite everyone who walked by to stop and talk a bit. She did stir some mischief as she was always lucky on bingo nights, a trait she carried from her and her husband's vacations with friends in Las Vegas. She, of course, would stir the pot a bit with "that top would look a lot better on me!" She did her best to bring color to any event and is dearly loved. She lived to love her family and did so abundantly. She passed of natural causes January 31, 2014 to join her parents, husband and so many of her siblings who have recently made their way to heaven. She remains in spiritual loving contact with her son, Al, his three sons, Joe, Mike and Nick; her daughter, Carol; and her daughter Tonnette, and her daughter Sarah. Joe had a pair of twins Anthony and Charles giving her two wonderful great grandchildren. She also remains in loving spiritual contact with 'the strangers' (That's Italian for spouses of your children) Sue, Patty, Michael, Dennis and Mary Lou.
