Beloved husband of Dorothy “Dotti” Stewart (nee Steffens). Best big brother to Greg Stewart (deceased) and Beverly Keller. Loving father to Carri (Jim) Horton and Megan Stewart. Devoted grandpa “Pa” to Kyle, Maddie and Dylan. Newly-minted great-Grandpa to Maisie. Loving uncle to CJ and Kimberly. Cousin and friend to so many.
Born in 1946 to Helen “Madeline” (nee Allen) and John Stewart, Jim graduated from Parma Senior High School in 1964. After graduation, he enlisted in the United States Air Force, and served his country through two tours of duty in Vietnam. Just over a year after his return to the U.S., he married the love of his life, and would remain happily married to his best friend for nearly 55 years. Jim’s career experiences working with the public – managing restaurants like Arby’s, Mr. Hero and Long John Silver’s and delivering snacks for Dan Dee Potato Chips – meant that he never met a stranger, and would constantly bump into someone he knew wherever he went. In his younger days, Jim was an avid bowler, and all throughout his life, a staunch Browns fan. He loved his family, his friends, lemon pepper, mustard, Sprite and Girl Scout Thin Mints (not necessarily in that order…) He would go out of his way to help anyone he could and he was so immensely proud of all his grandchildren, who he doted on.
His sense of humor, his smile and his booming, wheezing laugh will be sorely missed by all who knew him. Until we meet again, Jimmy…
There will be no funeral services, but a Celebration of Life is being planned for the future.
