

KEVIN “PATRICK” GAREAU, age 68. Beloved husband of 44 years to Maureen (nee Forestek). Loving father of Lauren Masterson (Kevin), Corey (Sasha) & Kevin (Melissa). Cherished grandfather of Connor, Aiden & Nolan Masterson, *. Dearest son of the late Paul & Catherine (nee Campbell). Dear brother of Donna Gallagher (Tom, deceased), Kathleen Wright (Benjamin) (both deceased), Patricia Hobson (Art) (both deceased), Paul Jr. (Carol) (both deceased), Michael (Gayle), Diane Cammarato, William (Sherry, deceased), Danielle Cifranic (Lou, deceased), Edward (Mary Beth), Tim (Patti), Dennis (Debbie), Jeannine Narowitz (Mick) and Mark (Olwen). Dear brother in law of Patricia Newman (Mark, deceased) and Thomas Forestek. Also survived by many nieces, nephews, cousins and many dear friends. Former CEO with the Catholic Charities, Diocese of Cleveland. U.S. Army Veteran.
Born on Saint Patrick’s Day, March 17, 1957, Patrick was the youngest of 14 children, born to the late Paul and Catherine (Campbell) Gareau. He grew up surrounded by family, creating countless cherished memories with his siblings.
Patrick graduated from North Olmsted High School and went on to attend John Carroll University, where he met Maureen, the love of his life. He made so many wonderful memories with Maureen and their children and grandchildren throughout the years. He was cherished and loved so very much. He served honorably as a Captain in the Army. He graduated with a Master of Arts from Central Michigan University and pursued a distinguished career in nursing home administration.
He worked 33 years with Catholic Charities, including serving as CEO at St. Augustine Health Campus and later as CEO of Catholic Charities Diocese of Cleveland, impacting countless lives with his leadership and compassion. Pat held a special place in his heart for the ministry of caring for older adults—especially those who had outlived family or resources. He believed deeply that every person deserves dignity, belonging, and the opportunity to continue living with purpose. It was not only the work he accomplished, but the spirit in which he led. Pat knew people by name. He listened to their stories. He shared meals, laughter, and prayers.
Patrick will be remembered for his unwavering love of family, his dedication to his work, and his kindness and generosity to all who knew him. He had a remarkable ability to make everyone feel seen and valued.

Mass of Christian Burial Wednesday November 19, 2025, St. Colette Church, 330 West 130th Street (Brunswick) at 11:00 AM. Interment Holy Cross Cemetery. The family will receive friends TUESDAY EVENING 3 – 7 PM at the A. RIPEPI & SONS FUNERAL HOME, 18149 BAGLEY ROAD, MIDDLEBURG HEIGHTS (WEST OF I-71).
