Paul was a graduate of Broadview Heights High School and Cuyahoga County Community College, with a degree in geology. Paul was a proud Army Veteran. Paul met Kathi in college and they were married in 1971; they found their way to their home in Grafton Ohio in 1976 where they lived for 49 years. Paul worked as a purchasing agent while pursuing his interests of geology, hiking, camping, and being a Buckskinning Mountain Man in his free time. Paul was a proud Boy Scout leader and camp master for 50 years and loved volunteering for the Lorain County Friends of the Metroparks. Paul shared his knowledge and love of the outdoors with his grandsons and enjoyed teaching people about his hobbies.
Paul was proceeded in death by his wife of 55 years Kathi (Amy) Rothacker, Parents Lillian and Emil Rothacker and parents-in- law Charles and Kathleen Amy. Paul is survived by his son Erik, daughter-in -law Birgit, and grandson Nathan Rothacker and his daughter Julie, son-in-law Michael, and grandson Andrew Magiera. He is also survived by sisters Sally Rothacker Peyton (Robert) and Nancy Smola (Jeffery), and brother Thomas Rothacker (Linda), his sister-in-law Karen Amy (Stephen Collesano) of Washington DC, brother-in-law Keith (Vivian) Amy of Seattle, Washington, and many loving nieces, nephews, great nieces, nephews, and extended family members.
Paul was never happier than when he was volunteering for the Halloween Walk with his eldest grandson Nathan, playing passenger cars with his youngest grandson Andrew, or being in nature.
As was Paul’s wish, a private family moment will be held in his honor.
