Rachel Anne Rusnak, age 50, went home to be with her heavenly Father on Sunday, November 16, 2025, after a courageous and lengthy battle with adrenal cancer. She was the beloved daughter of Joan Rusnak (née Reynolds) and Gregory Rusnak; devoted sister of Douglas; cherished aunt of Alexander, Nicholas, and Zackery; dear niece, cousin, and friend of many.
Her faith was affirmed by her education at Our Lady of Good Counsel (Cleveland); Holy Name High School, Class of 1993, (Parma Heights) where she was awarded Female Athlete of the Year her senior year; and the University of Mt. Union (Alliance) where Rachel received a Bachelor in Sports Management.
She completed a 25 year career at the Cleveland Clinic, the last 15 years as Research Program Manager/Administrator at the Cole Eye Institute. Rachel was a pillar of support for the institute research community and guided countless projects and fostered an environment of collaboration and excellence.
Throughout her life, sports was an important part of her being. From cheering on her Cleveland home teams (the Browns, the Cavs and the Indians) to often planning her vacations around the away games. She wasn’t always on the sidelines, but also played on several softball teams and was an avid golfer. Rachel never forgot her faith and was a regular attendee at 5:30 Mass.
The family will receive friends FRIDAY (DECEMBER 12), 4-7 PM at the A. RIPEPI AND SONS FUNERAL HOME, 18149 BAGLEY ROAD, MIDDLEBURG HEIGHTS (WEST OF I-71). Mass of Christian Burial 10:00 AM Saturday, December 13, 2025 at St. Bridget of Kildare Parish, 5620 Hauserman Road, Parma. EVERYONE PLEASE MEET AT CHURCH.
In lieu of flowers, donations in her memory may be made to St. Bridget of Kildare.
