Robert “Bob” Porter passed away on April 17, 2026, at the age of 68. He was the beloved husband of Holly for 45 years, devoted father of Amy Russo (Kenneth) and Katie Porter, cherished grandfather of Porter and Sawyer, and caring brother of Curtis II (Betty), Chuck, Greg (Terry), Linda (Ralph, deceased), Cathy (Bob), and Chris (Roger); dear son of the late Joan and Curtis Porter. He loved Vinny and Shaun, who were like sons to him.
Raised with six siblings, Bob’s childhood was filled with mischievous adventures and stories that reflected the fun-loving spirit he carried throughout his life. He was a true jack-of-all-trades with an incredible memory and the ability to fix, build, or figure out anything. Working on his own terms, Bob owned several businesses and was a self-taught mechanic who even designed and sold a tool to a major auto manufacturer.
Bob lived life fully and unapologetically. He was the life of every party, always ready with a story, a joke, or a way to bring people together. He knew everyone. If he met you once, he’d find a connection: someone you both knew, somewhere you’d both been, and suddenly you weren’t strangers anymore. He loved hosting cookouts, going out to eat, and he never turned down “goodies,” his favorite word for sweets. He loved to travel and explore, taking countless family trips in the ’78 Winnebago RV.
To his family, Bob meant everything. He was a proud father who stayed closely connected with his daughters. “Grandpa Bob” adored his grandsons and was well-known for letting them get away with anything, taking them fishing, and sharing his hobbies. He also had a deep love for dogs, and there was rarely a time when he and Holly didn’t have one by their side.
One of the many stories that capture Bob’s spirit is the time he bought a school bus and parked it in the driveway, which quickly became the coolest hangout for the neighborhood kids. That was Bob: always thinking of others and always making life a little more interesting.
In lieu of flowers, donations in his memory are suggested to the Berea Animal Rescue Friends at bereaanimalrescue.com
