RUTH ANN CASSIDY

CASSIDY RUTH ANN CASSIDY (nee Von Franzke), age 85. Long time resident of Lakewood, Ohio passed away on Friday June 7, 2013. She was born in Philadelphia, Pa to the late Bertha (Johnson) and Frederick Wilhelm (aka, Willie Moore) Von Franzke on January 3, 1928. She received a degree in nursing from the Thomas Jefferson University School of Nursing and went on to serve as a lieutenant in the U.S. Navy. In the late 1970's, she became among the first certified Pediatric Nurse Practitioners in the U.S. Ruth was a dedicated Pediatric Nurse Practitioner for the MetroHealth System of Cleveland for over 15 years and was part of ground-breaking Hepatitis C research while at Metro Hosp. She was an avid reader, enjoyed traveling, but her true passion laid in caring for her children and grandchildren. Ruth is survived by her loving husband of 60 years James T. Cassidy and five children: Hon. William A. (Bonnie) of Peachtree Corners, Ga., Christopher B. (Sandra) of Olmsted Falls, Oh, Moira L. (Dr. Ahmed Almalt) of Longwood, Fl, Sharon R. (Robert Acciarri) of Avon Lake, Oh and Joseph I of Lakewood, Oh. She was an adoring Nana to her beloved grandchildren Katelynn M. Cassidy, Caroline L. Cassidy, Noah Almalt, Sameh Almalt, Emily R. Cassidy, Ray Almalt, Domenic J. Acciarri and Nichole C. Acciarri, who will miss her greatly. Ruth is preceded in death by her parents and dear son Dr. Eugene J. Cassidy. Mass of Christian Burial Friday June 14, 2013 St. Ignatius Church, 10205 Lorain Ave., at 11:00AM. Final resting place Ohio Western Reserve National Cemetery.
